20 Jun Denver Design District’s 2019 Launch Spring Market
Our team recently had the pleasure of attending the Denver Design District’s 2019 Launch Spring Market. It was such a lovely day of inspiration and knowledge. We attended informative seminars from design leaders from around the country, networked with individuals in the industry, and discovered new products and trends.
We started off the day at a keynote presentation by Decorative Furnishings Association President and Hellman-Chang Co-Founder, Eric Chang. He presented on Technology, Culture and the Future of the Trade. He demonstrated how markets are changing and how businesses can grow awareness, brand value, sales, and profitability. As interior designers, we are always in showrooms and it was nice to hear Chang encourage the improvement of service and experience in showrooms by making information more accessible and expedient. He touched on how the cultural and technological shifts have influenced consumer behavior and how modern-day interior designers work and purchase. His presentation was very enlightening, and we were fortunate to hear him speak.
Afterwards, we mingled at the champagne reception with Chang hosted by TOWN showroom. TOWN is home to so many gorgeous lines of fabric, furniture, lighting, and art. This suspended lighting fixture from Ochre was so stunning. The simplistic form and luxurious finish of this chandelier was elegant and definitely a standout piece in the showroom. After we perused all the amazing fabrics and furniture TOWN had to offer, we chatted with Chang about his incredible designs and finishes. We also got the chance to meet the design director of TOWN who gave us amazing insight to different lines that his design studio carried.
We then made our way to John Brooks and saw a presentation by Mathieu Pintout, the Principal of the French-based company, Casamance Inc. Here we saw a myriad of textiles and fabrics that paid tribute to the passion which links “haute couture”, architecture and nature. Pintout and his charming colleagues showed our team so many amazing prints in a wide range of different colors and textures. They had linens, cottons, and multiple patterns ranging from herringbone to floral. we couldn’t get enough of their products and we can’t wait to start incorporating them in our designs!
After our delicious Mediterranean inspired lunch at Egg & Dart we sat in on Marcia Blake, the merchandising manager of Glen-Raven Custom Fabric’s presentation about sustainable performance fabrics. Glen Raven’s custom fabrics were originally created for exterior purposes only, however, but their newer line features fabric that is perfect for kids, pets, or families that require more durability. They rolled out their Sunbrella Fabrics and extended their products into many accessories including window treatments, rugs, and throws. We loved seeing the different patterns that this line offers. The Cast Collection offers beautiful pastels and nature-inspired neutrals. We also loved the Wisteria Collection composed of rich lilacs and warm lavenders.
Finally, we ended our day at Materials Marketing with Alex Turco. Turco is one of our favorite artists and we have used his work in a number of our projects. He creates custom made decorative art panels that are highly sought after and can be found in some of the most lavish American and Italian homes. Turco walked us through several of his spectacular aluminum art panels and how they can be incorporated in the home. He is an incredibly talented individual and we are so fortunate that we got to see him speak at the Denver Design District’s 2019Launch Spring Market.
This event was such a great experience. We met so many fabulous people and discovered amazing new brands. Industry events like this help mold us into the designers we are. Knowledge is power! Thank you to the Denver Design District and all the showrooms for a memorable day!
